BLUE BLOOD OF AN ARTIST
Photographer: Victoria Zavarnitsyna

A collaborative presentation series about a calling that does not ask for permission. About the kind of vocation that chooses you — not the other way around. Blue paint on pale skin becomes a visible metaphor for what has always been there: an inner necessity that cannot be refused.
They say that if you can live without creating — then don’t create.
But if you cannot live without it, then it is no longer a choice. It is your life’s work. It chose you.
This is what my teacher once told me.
And this is what this series is about.
In these photographs, blue paint on pale skin merges with the veins already visible beneath the surface. There is no longer a boundary between what is inside and what is outside. The paint does not stain — it reveals what has always been there.
This is not a performance. This is not a costume.
This is simply the visible trace of a calling that arrived before me and will remain after me.
Blue Blood of an Artist is a collaborative presentation project between digital artist Yulia Yurchevskaya and photographer Victoria Zavarnitsyna.
